Custom Compounding


Compounding is the art of mixing two or more ingredients together to create a final product.  If you have difficulty swallowing a pill, finding a discontinued medication, have allergies to excipient in medications, or fight with your kids to take their medications, we may have an answer.


Human Compounding

Gummy squares, chocolate squares, flavoured liquids, lollipops; there are many options to help patients take their medications.  Need a unique topical gel / cream for pain, we can compound it. Bio-identical hormone replacement therapy in the form of sublingual, topical, oral, suppository, rapid dissolve tablet or injection, we can prepare it.  Strathcona Prescription Centre has a variety of flavours such as tutti fruiti, chocolate, raspberry, mint, bubble gum, strawberry, banana, grape, and more.  We are working with you and your health care practitioner to provide a custom compounded medication to solve your medication problem.


Veterinary Compounding

Pursuant to a prescription from your veterinarian, we can compound a medication for your pet(s).  If you have difficulty pilling your pet, intolerance to the taste of a medication, or need an alternative method of giving the medication, our pharmacy team can help.  We can prepare flavoured animal treats, liquids, transdermal ear gels, eye drops and more.  Some veterinary flavours include beef, triple fish, liver, and chicken.  Examples of hard to find medications may include tramadol, cisapride, potassium bromide, methimazole, itrazonazole, and metronidazole.  


Dental Compounding

Difficult to find dental preparations may be compounded by our pharmacy team.  Topical anesthetics, acid etches, desentitizing agents, teeth whitening gels, dry socket prevention, we can help.
